Once you submit a quote one of our Account Managers will reach out to you and help
guide you through the process.
Once we have a copy of your most recent bill and relevant required details, Your
Account Manager will offer you either a 1-year and 2-year option based on your tariff
and consumption which they have found on your bill. Once you have selected your
contract length, you will be given a new supply contract to sign. As we have gone
paperless, this will be sent to you via email, and you can sign directly from your
computer/phone/tablet.

and explain the best options we have available. Then you just choose which deal you
want. Or, if you have opted for our auto renew service, we will send you an email 30
days prior notifying you of who your new provider is, and all the details of your new
contract.
You are always going to be in control with cheddar.ie. Each time that we are preparing a switch we will send you an email to tell you who your better value deal is with and the amount that you will pay with the new supplier based on what information you have given us.

Energy FAQs
The amount you save by switching your provider depends on your existing plan, your
consumption habits and what offers are available at the time of switching. Electricity and
gas prices have reached record high prices in 2022 so now, more than ever it is so
important to be availing of discounts.
If you use an average amount of energy each year (that’s 11,000 kWh of gas and 4,200
kWh of electricity) you should save somewhere between €400 and €700 a year if you
are switching from standard rates to the best deal on the market.
If you use more energy than the average household, and/or live in a poorly insulated
house, you will probably save even more than that. By using cheddar.ie, we will make
sure that you will never be on a standard rate and overpaying on your bills again.
An MPRN is a Meter Point Reference Number. This is an 11-digit number found on your
electricity bill and helps the energy suppliers identify your property. You can usually find
these numbers on the top right-hand corner of your bills.
A GPRN (Gas Point Reference Number) - a seven-digit number found on your gas bill.
You can usually find these numbers on the top right-hand corner of your bills.
Switching with cheddar.ie is quick and easy. You need four main pieces of information to switch energy supplier:
1 If you’re switching electricity you’ll need your MPRN. If you’re switching gas you’ll
need your GPRN. For dual fuel offers, you need both.
2 A recent meter reading - Your old supplier can provide you with a final bill and
your new supplier can start from that point.
3 Copies of your most recent gas or electricity bill – or both if you are a dual fuel
customer.
4 To complete your energy switch you’ll also need to give us some personal details
such as your home and email address and a contact number. You'll also need to
give us your bank account details i.e. your IBAN and BIC.
Around 2-3 weeks after you’ve switched, your old supplier will send you out a closing
bill. This will be based on the meter reading you provided at the time of the switch. Your
new supplier will also write to you to welcome you and give you all the information you
need e.g. your account number, contact details etc.
You need to pay the closing bill from your old supplier by the due date they have set out.
Then all of your future bills will come from your new supplier.
Every year! This is to ensure that you are always getting the best deal available.
However, some suppliers will have a winback team to offer retention deals to customers
to keep them as a customer for an extra year but these offers are often not as
competitive as the deals a new customer will be offered.
Yes! We can select a provider that has a 100% green energy supply offer.
The PSO Levy was re-introduced to cover the additional costs of producing or
purchasing electricity from native sources and environmentally friendly forms of fuel.
Your standing charge is a daily charge to cover the costs of the maintenance and
reading of your meter. The cost of the standing charge depends upon your meter
configuration & tariff type.
No. Your energy supply will not be affected in any way during the switchover process.

Broadband FAQs
A Universal Account Number (UAN) is a unique number that identifies the line that
carries broadband and phone signals to a home. A UAN is eight digits long and can be
found on most broadband and phone bills on the top right corner.
Yes. You can have broadband only without landline charges
By entering your Eircode on the government website, you can find out when high-speed
broadband will be rolled out in your area.
Broadband speed is measured in Mbps or megabits per second. This is the rate at
which data is uploaded and downloaded between the internet and your device. In
Ireland, most internet service providers will promote their download speeds in their
packages. While some of Ireland’s broadband providers offer speeds up to 1000Mbps,
they aren’t available everywhere.
Fibre is available to over 1 million homes with more and more areas receiving Fibre
upgrades each week. When Fibre is available in your area you can upgrade for free.
Internet Protocol (IP) address is assigned to you by your broadband provider and allows
your devices to send and receive information over the internet.
You can find your IP address under the router with the username and password.
Broadband service is direct debit only and subject to online billing.
UNLIMITED means no upload or download usage limits when accessing the internet.
Broadband services allow you to stream Netflix 24/7 and spend hour’s online gaming
either from your phone, tablet or laptop – all day every day with no extra charge to your bill.
A fair usage policy is a data limit imposed by your Internet Service Provider. The
provider has these limits to ensure that the speeds on their network won’t be affected by
over-usage. If you go over the limit, then you may be subject to additional charges.
If you are looking for the fastest broadband plans in Ireland, look no further! Leading
Irish broadband providers Pure Telecom, Sky, eir, Vodafone, and Virgin Media all offer
fibre-powered gigabit speeds. That’s download speeds up to 1000Mbps! You can
choose from broadband-only gigabit plans or bundle your broadband with a landline for
even bigger savings!
Internet service providers promote their plans with the maximum possible speed for that
package. Depending on the distance between your home and the exchange, the speed
can be affected. Thus, the further from the exchange, the slower the speed.
We’ll make sure to only send interesting info, no crappy content or marketing fluff. Just the good stuff, promise!
